The MLB and CBD Join for fan approval

Major League Baseball will now allow sponsorships by CBD brands. The MLB will only consider products for ad spots that first pass a THC threshold analysis by the National Sports Federation (NSF), confirming they do not have active levels of THC.

NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball teams were told Tuesday that they can sell CBD sponsorships.

CBD stands for cannabidiol and is a chemical compound found naturally in cannabis plants.

The commissioner's office informed teams that a sponsor would need to be certified by the NSF, a global health and safety organization, to ensure the CBD products do not contain THC, which causes psychoactive effects. A sponsor would need to be approved by the commissioner's office.
